- 6 Lemons
- 6 oz sugar
- 1 litre dry red wine
- 1 litre dry white wine
- Some mint leaves
Method :
- (1) Place the sugar in a heavy-based saucepan & peel
the rind carefully from three of lemons using a
sharp serrated knife or a vegetable peeler. Do not
take any of the white pith off with the peel. Squeeze
the lemons for juice & strain them into the saucepan. - (2) Place the saucepan over gentle heat to dissolve the
sugar and stirring occasionally. Set aside to cool
completely. - (3) Slice the remaining lemons about 1/4 inch thick. Mix
all the ingredients together & pour into a large glass
jug. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight &
stirring occasionally. - (4) Add just the leaves or small springs of mint to the
lemonade, stirring them in well. To serve, pour into
tall glasses over ice.
Remark :
- (1) You can use 7 or 8 limes or 3 oranges in place of
the lemons.
